How to Store

Have you ever bought a big container of juicy strawberries, only to find them past their prime a few days later? Us, too. These delicate berries definitely have a shelf life, but try our tips to make them last as long as possible.

  1. Wash as you go. Strawberries are like little sponges and moisture is the enemy so only wash what you need and use them right away.

  2. Refrigerate–keep them cold!

  3. Remove any squishy berries right away! Spoiled or moldy berries left in the container will ruin the rest.

  4. For an even longer life for your strawberries, give them a vinegar bath when you get them home. Vinegar kills any bacteria and mold spores that might be on your strawberries–these can make them spoil faster! Mix one cup white vinegar with four cups of cold water and pour over berries, letting them sit for five minutes. Drain and thoroughly rinse to get rid of any vinegar taste. Dry them completely on clean kitchen towels and store in the refrigerator.

  5. If you have more berries than you can use, freezing them is a great option! Rinse and dry them, then hull. Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper to prevent fruit from sticking, freeze until solid and store in an airtight bag or container.
