Seeding

Lettuce has very small seeds, so they should be planted close to the soil surface. Sprinkle 3-4 lettuce seeds on top of the soil, and lightly brush soil over them to cover and gently pat down.

Harvest

To harvest a whole head of lettuce, wait until the plants reach maturity, typically around 8 to 12 inches tall. Once the heads are fully formed, cut them at the base, close to the soil, using a sharp knife or scissors.

Garden Tips

Lettuce is a versatile plant that can also be harvested at different stages of growth, with the appropriate planting technique. This allows for various harvesting options such as microgreens or loose leaf lettuce.
