The mission of Stein Learning Gardens at St. Sabina is to deliver high quality garden education and community programs that create positive learning experiences, encourage healthy lifestyle choices, and increase community members’ access to fresh and affordable healthy produce. We also helped build and support two other community gardens on the South side of Chicago.
We offer garden education classes to community members of all ages, operate a weekly farmstand in an area greatly affected by food apartheid, create new and maintain existing community gardens on the South side of Chicago, and grow edible crops to support a food pantry in our community.
