Our Grantees Dream of Wild Health

The mission of Dream of Wild Health (DWH) is to restore health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy indigenous foods, medicines, and lifeways. The organization has grown into a 30-acre farm, native fruit orchard, and pollinator meadow in Hugo, MN, with an office in the American Indian cultural corridor in
Minneapolis and works with youth and families across the Twin Cities.

Dream of Wild Health is one of the longest continually operating Native American organizations in the Twin Cities. We create culturally-based opportunities for youth employment, entrepreneurship and leadership; increase access to Indigenous foods through farm production, sales and distribution; and engage community members through outreach around reclaiming cultural traditions, healthy Indigenous food, cooking skills, and policy and systems change. Dream of Wild Health’s programs impact over 15,000 people each year from our youngest community members to our oldest. Our programs include:

  • Native Youth Education & Leadership
  • Farm & Food Access
  • Seed Stewardship & Social Enterprise
  • Community Outreach & Education
  • Network Leadership (including the Indigenous Food Network)
