Chive plants can grow up to 12-18” And therefore can require a significant amount of space to grow. To plant chives in your grow bag, create one hole in the center of the soil. Place 2-3 seeds in the soil, planting them ¼” deep. Lightly cover the seeds with soil and water.  Once the seedlings have sprouted, thin to 1 plant.

Harvest

Start harvesting once plants reach 6 inches tall by cutting leaves 1-2 inches above the soil. Harvest regularly to encourage plant growth. Both leaves and flowers are edible.

Garden Tips

Chives grow in clumps with hollow, tubular leaves that are often mistaken for stems,  these are the commonly harvested parts of the plants. However, chives also produce edible flowers that have a mild onion flavor, a great addition to many savory dishes.
