Sustainable Food Center works to transform the food system to nourish our health, land, and livelihood. We envision a just, equitable, and regenerative food system where people and the environment thrive.
For five decades, Sustainable Food Center (SFC) has served as a food system leader in Central Texas with a mission to transform the food system to nourish our
health, land, and livelihood. Throughout its history, SFC has expanded access to local food to support health and food security for families of all cultural and
socioeconomic backgrounds. SFC takes a system-level approach to improve the way food is grown, distributed, and consumed by examining how people,
processes, and policies are connected in the food system and addressing the complex challenges and inequities embedded in our current food system. These inequities impact the availability and accessibility of food and influence nutrition, health, environment, and wellbeing. With this focus, SFC’s work centers thriving communities by expanding equitable food access through nutrition incentives and education, supporting local producers, and bolstering local and regional food economies.
