Our Grantees Sproutin’ Up

We teach youth ages 9-18 who are living in under-resourced neighborhoods how to have their first job on our farm and we grow food for families who are in need.

Each year we pay (collectively) over $15,000 to youth in need in our community.
We grow food for 15 families at no cost to them.
Each summer we have about 40 kids working on the farm each week.
We have four age appropriate programs for kids; our Apprenticeship Program teaches kids ages 9-11 about nutrition and gardening, our Budding Philanthropist Program teaches kids ages 12-13 about philanthropy. These kids grow our flowers and deliver bouquets to our low-income health center each week. Our Internship Program teaches kids ages 14-16 how to run our farm, write their resume and develop customer service skills. Finally our Compost Team uses e-bikes to pick up compost and coffee grounds on a weekly basis which is used on our farm to enhance the soil. The coffee grounds are also used to make soap that we sell back to our community.
We serve over 250 meals to kids in our outdoor kitchen that’s located on the farm. Kids learn how to make a healthy meal each day and then we enjoy it together.
