Mission: To serve as a catalyst for resident-led, community-rooted experiences that BUILD stronger neighborhoods; IMPROVE the neighborhood food supply chain; STIMULATE collective investment in better health; and MAXIMIZE the impact of investment to address social inequities.
Project New Village (PNV) is a grassroots nonprofit organization founded by community residents to serve the community. PNV operates four community growing spaces that it uses to grow food and teach residents about climate-smart urban agriculture practices. In late 2022, PNV launched The People’s Produce Mobile Farmers Market (PPMFM), which brings fresh, locally-grown produce to nine low-income and low-access neighborhoods each week, accepts SNAP/EBT benefits, and provides $10 worth of free produce to residents who participate in a 5-minute combined health literacy education and survey session. The PPMFM program not only helps alleviate residents’ food and nutrition security, but it also supports a dozen small and local farmers and growers, many of whom qualify as under-resourced.
