Founded in 2009, Hip Hop is Green is a nonprofit that promotes holistic wellness and transforms urban communities environmentally with the global power of Hip Hop culture.
Our belief is that every city should have spaces that provide refuge for marginalized communities and fight climate change.
By moving hip hop in a green direction, we have:
- Introduced over 40,000 people in need to free plant-based meals across the U.S. through our Hip Hop is Green dinners.
- Together with leading Hip Hop artists and advocates, we ushered in the new 10th element of Hip Hop culture, which is health and wellness
- Educated hundreds of youth about healthier lives and green entrepreneurship with an entertaining Hip Hop-based climate education built into our Youth Excellence program.
- Inspired youth to discover their life purpose and become the next generation of climate changemakers.
- Planted thousands of trees and empowered authentic connections that youth gain in the outdoors.
- Launched an innovative hydroponic farm and educational lab that houses all of these initiatives and grows healthy food for communities called Cherry Street Farm.
