Our Grantees Healthy Little Havana

Healthy Little Havana (HLH) is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing health equity, resilience, and quality of life for residents of Little Havana. By partnering with neighbors and local organizations, HLH addresses root causes of health disparities through culturally tailored programs, advocacy, and community-driven solutions.

Key Programs & Services

  • Community Health Worker (CHW) Programs: Deliver bilingual health education on topics like HIV prevention, food insecurity, and extreme heat resilience.
  • Falls Prevention & Healthy Aging: Educational workshops and mobility classes for older adults.
  • Environmental Justice & Resilience: Extreme heat education campaigns (Que Calor), pedestrian safety initiatives, and advocacy for safer, greener infrastructure.
  • Food Access & Security: Partnerships with local pantries, referral systems, and resident engagement to address hunger and nutrition barriers.

People Served Annually (estimates based on current projects)

  •  ~2,000 residents engaged through community events, outreach, and education activities.
  • ~360 residents engaged in HIV/PrEP workshops in 2025.
  • Thousands more reached digitally through campaigns like Que Calor.

Key Achievements & Impact

  • Distributed more than 3,000 condoms and HIV prevention materials in 2025 to reduce stigma and increase access to care.
  • Secured the ACL Innovation Lab Falls Prevention Grant to launch a Little Havana bilingual falls prevention initiative.
  • Partnered with C40 Cities and the City of Miami to expand extreme heat data collection (Heat Sensors in Homes) and launched community-driven art and advocacy campaigns.
  • Trained and mobilized resident leaders to advocate for safer pedestrian zones, equitable zoning, and climate resilience policies.
