Our Grantees Flowers and Bullets

We are organizers creating outlets for underserved youth and communities that reflect the lives we live and the places we come from. Through skill-sharing, promoting place-based connections in the barrio, and listening to each other’s stories, we foster sustainable living practices. Together, we address systemic traumas caused by incarceration, addiction, violence, food insecurity, health disparities, and economic inequity.

Our approach to sustainability is deeply rooted in tradition and cultural reconnection. Industrialization disconnected many of us from the land, our food, and our heritage. By embracing practices like gardening, water harvesting, and resource-sharing, we’re restoring self-sufficiency and keeping our traditions alive. We’re also making sure that communities of color have a voice in the ‘Green’ movement, ensuring no one is left behind as we work toward a healthier, more sustainable future.

We reclaim our cultural roots and amplify them through sustainability, art, and rebellion to heal and empower our neighborhood.

Our key programming and impact includes:

  • Urban Forestry
  • Water Harvesting
  • Urban Agriculture
  • Community Compost Program
  • Goat and Chicken care
  • Serve 6,000 people yearly
  • Purchase of 9.7 acre farm and community space in 2024
  • 3 Pocket park projects with community partners
