The Big Green DAO just completed its 8th round of grantmaking, awarding $495,000 in unrestricted funding to 34 grassroots organizations growing food and strengthening local food systems across the U.S. Grants ranged from $10,000 to $50,000 and were selected through a community-led voting process by members of the DAO.
What makes this grant round different?
The funding is decided by the community, for the community. The Big Green DAO is a decentralized, democratic initiative where nonprofits and donors vote side by side—sharing decision-making power and voting as equals to determine how funds are allocated. This peer-to-peer model centers trust, transparency, and the lived experience of grassroots leaders.
