Garden to Table empowers school communities with gardens and curriculum to engage all students in experiential outdoor education. Our vision is a future in which gardens are an integral part of every school, fostering connection to nature, student health and wellness, academic engagement and achievement, and environmental and community stewardship.
Garden to Table is celebrating our 20th year of supporting elementary school gardens in the Boulder Valley School District!
Gardens at our partner schools are used by all grade levels for hands-on lessons across academic content areas (math, literature, science, etc.), engaging students in growing a wide variety of edible plants and caring for the land. We supply a standards-based curriculum for PreK through 5th grade, lesson kits, instructional support, and online scheduling tools to facilitate whole-school participation at each of our partner schools. We also provide all garden materials and management, volunteer coordination, teacher and parent volunteer training, weekly garden checkups, and completion of seasonal tasks to ensure the gardens are thriving.
Recent program updates have increased lesson participation by all of our partner schools, and a new Garden Educator model at our Title I schools has resulted in a 240% increase in garden visits per student. Our program serves more than 6,500 students and close to 350 teachers at 19 partner schools in and around Boulder County, Colorado. We are proud to partner with all six Title I schools in the Boulder Valley School District, located in Lafayette, Broomfield, and Boulder.
