Our Grantees Firdous Community Garden at Mohammed Schools of Atlanta

Growing Food. Cultivating Faith thru Service. Nurturing Future Stewards.

The Firdous Community Garden/Farm is registered with the USDA and is certified naturally grown (cng.org). We began in 2014 with just a few garden beds for students to grow food, save seeds and harvest for themselves, the cafeteria and the community. We joined Big Green in 2020 and constructed outdoor classrooms during the pandemic. The growing area now measures at roughly 11,000 sq. ft., with three outdoor classrooms, two hoop houses, two orchards, over thirty beds and two herb garden areas. The community grows food all summer and when kids come back to school, they garden throughout the whole school year.

Programs include: Farm to Cafeteria, weekly mandatory garden education Pre-K-8th grade, bee keeping, composting and butterfly release.
