Sustainable Swaps To Make For Earth Month

As we celebrate the Earth this month, we’ve put together a few environment-friendly sustainable swaps that are simple enough to do at home.

  • Reusable water bottle

Use a reusable water bottle instead of plastic water bottles to reduce plastic waste!

  • Reusable grocery bags and produce bags

Replacing plastic grocery and produce bags with reusable bags help cut down on plastic and packaging waste!

  • Silicone baking mat

A silicone baking mat can replace parchment paper as an eco-friendly and reusable option.

  • Recycled or bamboo toilet paper

Using recycled or bamboo toilet paper supports the recycling system and also requires fewer resources to produce than regular toilet paper.

  • Bamboo toothbrush + eco toothpaste

Bamboo toothbrushes and eco-toothpaste are both recyclable (cutting down on plastic waste)!

  • Refillable shampoo and conditioner

By refilling your shampoo and conditioner bottles instead of buying new ones, you are reducing the amount of plastic containers that are thrown away after use. Using a shampoo bar is also a great zero waste option!

  • Refillable or cardboard deodorant

Refillable or cardboard deodorant cuts down on plastic waste from used products – cardboard deodorant containers are also recyclable!

  • Wooden dish brush or bioplastic sponges

Wooden dish brushes and bioplastic sponges are both compostable, a much more environmentally-friendly option than normal sponges.

  • Eco-friendly laundry detergent

Eco-friendly laundry detergent such as laundry sheets or powder are a great alternative to reduce waste.

  • Grocery meal planning

Taking the time to meal plan before you go grocery shopping helps to cut down on food waste from products you buy but don’t use – it also makes it easier for you to quickly create delicious meals at home!

  • Start a garden

By starting a garden at home you can reduce food waste, greenhouse gas emissions, water usage and more – plus it’s a great way to connect with nature!

  • Composting

Composting cuts down on methane emissions from food waste in landfills and also creates a free soil amendment that improves soil health and nutrients.

We’re challenging you to try a few of these eco-friendly swaps – you might be surprised at how little you notice the difference!
