The Brownsville Wellness Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating healthy food and lifestyles in the Rio Grande Valley. We make a difference by expanding access to fresh, local food, providing hands-on education, and creating community spaces that empower individuals and families to live healthier, more resilient lives.
The Brownsville Wellness Coalition serves over 75,000 people annually through our Farmers Market, Fresco Mobile Market, community gardens, urban farms, and La Cocina Alegre (The Happy Kitchen) cooking program. Our programs expand access to fresh, local food, provide bilingual nutrition education, and support local growers. With the soon to come Cannery Public Market and multiple urban farm sites, we are building long-term food access and economic opportunities, while fostering healthier, more resilient communities across the Rio Grande Valley.
