The lessons in this curriculum are categorized based on the various plant parts that we consume: seeds, roots, stems, leaves, fruits, and flowers.
To facilitate learning, we offer diverse teaching options that allow educators to concentrate on literacy, science, and food literacy skills. These options are tied to each plant part found in the garden. For example, while planting with students, you can focus on lessons about seeds. During watering and weeding activities, consider exploring the lessons on roots and leaves. When plants are in their flowering and fruiting stages, turn to the relevant sections in the curriculum.
Each grade level receives a comprehensive curriculum guide, student journals, and a collection of Garden Thymes articles. Additionally, a Google Drive link is provided for easy access to individual files from the curriculum. This includes Google Doc versions of the student journals, which can be copied and integrated into your classroom’s Learning Management System.
