It’s best to perfect a system in one city before expanding it, said entrepreneur Kimbal Musk at a fundraiser for his non-profit Big Green on Thursday night at DIRTT Environmental Solutions, a sustainable interior-architecture firm.

Since late 2012, with a $1 million grant from Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, Big Green has installed 100 learning gardens in Chicago Public Schools, with the goal of improving kids’ understanding of fresh foods and raising test scores.
