Summer is the best time of year to buy fruits, vegetables, and other food from your local farms. Lucky for us, Metro Detroit is home to dozens of farmers markets selling fresh produce all season, including the historical Eastern Market, which hosts over 200 vendors on its busiest days. Here, we list a few of our favorite markets serving Big Green Detroit school communities this summer, but you can also find a farmers market near you using this search tool provided by the Michigan Farmers Market Association.
Note: many local farmers markets are closed due to COVID-19, but those that are open and listed below are taking precautions seriously by providing a variety of safe, socially distanced shopping options for their customers. Check details for your farmers market ahead of time to see if their operating hours have changed, what options they offer for distanced shopping, and to ensure you follow their safety rules.
