To our amazing community of educators:
For the last 18 months, we’ve shared hands-on activities and educational resources to engage kids in learning about food, plants, the environment, and the world around them.
We’re still offering all of those things, but as educators prepare to navigate another year of COVID-19 challenges and fears, we want to offer something else, too. We’ve worked together for years to get kids outside, learning and exploring. School gardens offer amazing potential for outdoor learning in every subject at every grade level.
We’re thrilled to announce that with the support of a generous donor and the resources developed over the last year by Big Green and other incredible organizations like Green Schoolyards America, the Children and Nature Network, and the School Garden Support Organization Network, we’re offering $2,000 flash grants to schools across America.
If you are an educator (or you know one!) who wants to bring your students outside to learn this fall, we want to help. We’ll send direct payments to your school to accelerate outdoor learning efforts in response to COVID-19. How the funds are used is entirely up to you, so long as they leverage your Learning Garden to help more kids spend more time learning in the open air.
Educators who meet the following guidelines are encouraged to attend the Big Green Jumpstart webinar for more details:
- Your school has a garden and you want to do more with it.
- Your school is planning for or has already identified ways to teach in the garden, right now.
- You need more funds to engage more kids in more outdoor learning.
If you don’t meet the requirements for this grant, we’re still here to help you teach outside. We’re curating a resource library with contributions from Big Green and our outdoor learning partners. To request access, share your email.
